My father, Carson R. (Jim) Rentz purchased a local cabinet shop in 1950. The cabinet business prospered and was moved to its present location on Bladen Street in 1952. The following year the building business began with the construction of two homes. In 1959 the name was changed from Coastal Cabinetworks to Coastal Contractors, Inc.

Today, our family continues to own and operate the company. The duties of managing the company and supervising construction are shared by my dad and I. We inspect almost every ongoing project daily.

We have an excellent support staff and offer In-house architectural design and home decorating. Many of the staff have been with our company for over 15 years.

Coastal Contractors has 6 field superintendents. Each one has worked with us from 11 years to 38 years. Each has their own strengths and preferences which gives us the capability to build a broad range of residential and commercial projects. We can build from affordable starter homes to expensive custom homes. Over the years we have built 100's if multi family units.
